Britney Spears' dad Jamie Spears is reportedly teaming with Kevin Federline to write a fatherhood book. Britney Spears' father Jamie Spears plans to help Kevin Federline, his ex-husband, write a book about "his experience of fatherhood amid... turmoil." According to the Daily Mail, Jamie Spears defended the conservatorship that he placed his daughter under for over a decade and claimed it saved her life. Britney's accuser Jamie of using the conservatorship as a way to abuse, exploit and control Britney, told the Mail that he believes the legal tactic was also in the best interests of the two teenage sons Britney shares. Britney would be where she is now without the conservatorship. I don't know if they would still be alive. Jamie, 70, said that I don't ...,". Conservatorship was a powerful tool for protecting Britney and her sons. Britney, now 41, was placed under conservatorship in 2008 following her behavior that led to two involuntary 5150 detentions in a mental ward. The conservatorship lasted until November 2021. According to the Mail, Jamie managed his daughter's finances and career for at least $16,000 per month. Two months before the mandate expired, he was removed from his position as conservator. My understanding of conservatorship is that it helps someone to regain their life, return to society, and live normal lives. Jamie said that he felt that he had made a positive difference to people's lives. Jamie also said Britney was "broke", and claimed credit for improving his daughter’s financial outlook. Britney's lawyer repeatedly accused Jamie of manipulating Britney’s estate to his advantage. Jamie's reference that he helped Britney's ex-boyfriend Kevin with a book on fatherhood is just three years after Kevin received a restraining or against Jamie for allegedly engaging in a physical altercation between Britney and Kevin's 13-year old son, Sean. There were no criminal charges. Kevin has not yet commented on the book project he reported. RELATED: Britney Spears' conservatorship ended. Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton and other stars react.
Amber Heard announces she will settle Johnny Depp's defamation suit. Amber Heard made the announcement Monday, Dec. 19, that she would be settling the Johnny Depp defamation lawsuit brought against her by Johnny Depp. Amber appealed an earlier in year verdict which was decidedly in Johnny's favor. Amber shared a portion of her Instagram post, "It's important to me to say I never chose this." "I stood up for my truth, and my life was destroyed as I knew it." Amber was originally sued by Johnny over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which Amber discussed being a victim of domestic abuse. In the article, she didn't name Johnny. Amber stated on Instagram that her settlement was not an act of concession. She feels that the courts did not protect her. Amber claims that there was "abundant, clear evidence that corroborated [her] testimony was exclusion" and that popularity and power were more important than due process and reason. Johnny was awarded $15 million in damages by the jury, but that amount was later reduced. Amber was only awarded $2 million in cross-complaint. Johnny is appealing this decision. Amber said, "I make this decision having lost trust in the American legal system where my unprotected testimonies served as entertainment and media fodder." She also referred to the verdict of a lawsuit Johnny brought against The Sun, a British tabloid that called him a "wifebeater." Amber pointed out that Amber wasn't required to testify in the case before "the world’s media": A British court found Johnny had actually abused Amber. Amber, however, stated that the U.S. trial had made her feel humiliated and that she can't relive it. She also said that she cannot "risk an impossible bill" that isn't just financially but also psychologically, physically, and emotionally. Amber said that women shouldn't be forced to speak out, and that bankruptcy isn't an option. Unfortunately, it is quite common. I won't be intimidated, discouraged or dissuaded by the events that have occurred because of speaking truth. I will never be taken from that truth. My voice will always be the most valuable asset that I possess."
