Citizens has announced 30 winners for its sixth annual Small Business Community Champion Awards. The awards were selected from nearly 9,000 submissions across the Citizens footprint.

Two of them are located in the Pittsburgh metro area. Greensburg Med Inc. of Greensburg and Make It Home Safe are two Pittsburgh-based startups that have developed an app named after them to make traffic stops safer for drivers and police officers.

Each winner will be awarded $10,000 to recognize the positive contribution they have made in their community. The applicants wrote about their plans to use the grant money to grow their business, provide products and services to clients and strengthen communities.

Citizens Financial Group, headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island (NYSE:CFG), has assets of $222.3 billion. By deposit market share, it is the fifth largest bank in the 10-county Pittsburgh Metro area.

Sarah Lindstrom said, in a statement, that the strong participation this year in the Small Business Champion Program underscores how important it is for businesses to be engaged with Citizens and their communities. We're happy to offer this opportunity again to support and enhance small business success as well as the economic vitality of the Citizens geography. And congratulate the winners for their achievements.
