Mortgage Rates Rise for First Time in More Than a Month

Mortgage rates have risen for the first since early March.
According to a survey released by the mortgage giant Freddie Mac on Thursday, the average rate for a standard 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has risen to 6.39%.
This increase brings to an end a streak of five consecutive weeks in which mortgage rates declined. The rates were at 6.27% last week and slightly above 5% one year ago.
