MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in a tough position, down 2-0 to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals. Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns are struggling on the offensive end, shooting a combined 30 percent from the field and scoring just 71 points in the first two games. In contrast, Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving have been impressive for the Mavericks, outscoring Edwards and Towns 115-71. The Wolves have lost their two home games by a combined four points, and their stars’ poor performances are making the climb ahead even steeper. Game 3 will be crucial for the Timberwolves in trying to turn the series around.
