The city has activated its first heat emergency plan of the year while various agencies, organizations, and businesses are adjusting their seasonal calendars due to climate change. New Yorkers are realizing that they are out of sync with the weather and need to rethink how they adapt. Despite the heat emergency, schools are still in session, pools are closed, and public beaches are preparing to open. New Yorkers are making small adjustments to their schedules, doing activities during the coolest parts of the day.
